Apart from direct to disk printing, photo quality output is easily equal to, if not better than the Epson printers. The Canon IP3000 (UK version) is an incredible machine. I realize this sounds a little harsh, but I don’t want to see someone mess up because of this thread.

If someone can’t ether FIND the Pixma template, or figure out how to mod an Epson tray, you should (IMHO) seriously reconsider taking a printer apart, even with instructions. Yes, the Epson tray must be trimmed down to Pixma tray size, and you WILL need to get some sticky back foil (like the foil duct tape at Home Depot) and stick some small squares on it using a print-out-template provided elsewhere in this thread. On the Canon CD tray, there are three small square mirror type reflectors. I think if you set the “correct” model you will be allowed to print to CD/DVD… Maybe the model setting is what you need to be able to print cdr’s! To execute these options you press the power button.įor the model setting, when you’ve pressed resume 4 times and then the power button you should press the resume button again a given number of times to select the model, and then the power button to execute!

So finally if this is service mode then you should be able to (in step 3) press the resume button maybe 2,3,4,5 times instead and get something else printed, or maybe you get a factory reset I really dont know but feel free to try!ĮDIT: for the canon bjc3000 the mumber of presses in step 3 means as follows:Ģ times EEPROM initialization (clears the settings to factory default, except the model setting) I’m not sure of what it is or if you can get this page to print some other way but it har one line of text that I think shows firmware version, usb id and something else… on the bottom of my page it reads CDR SENSOR=OK. (now the power light will keep blinking until the printer is ready so just wait)ģ, if you press resume 1 time now the power light should be orange so press the power button and it should print something!
Hi again, here’s how you get in to the service mode!!!.Maybeġ, Press and hold the resume button, press and hold the power button (the green indicator will light up)Ģ, while holding the power button, release the resume button and then double click the resume button and finally release power button. Maybe it is the key, as the article mentioned three they don’t know what they are for (4, 6, &7). Keep looking for more “service mode” info. THIS DOES NOT MEAN I DON’T THINK WE CAN SOLVE THIS, just that Canon does some strange things. It makes no sense from a manufacturing cost point, but there it is. Or call Canon US parts and get the part numbers. Not just a slightly different output voltages, but VERY different dimensions!!! Yet EACH OF THESE PRINTERS USE A VERY DIFFERENT POWER SUPPLY! It seems you could swap printheads and have the other printer, right? Same print speed, noise levels, everything.
The specs for the 40 are identical, except for the size of the printhead nozzles (1pl vs 2pl). OK, the 3000 is gray color, but looks the same. Stop by a store and look at the iP3000, iP4000, and iP5000. I just don’t see the printers being physically different depending on where they are sold.īut the fact is Canon uses very different parts on at least three otherwise nearly identical Pixmas.
